If you are investing for some time now and have no idea how much you would accumulate on your target year, here is the Retirement Calculator from Truly Rich Club that you can use to calculate it.
Here, you have to enter your "Starting Cash" or your initial investment. Some investment vehicles have an initial investment of 5,000 pesos just like CitisecOnline's Easy Investment Program or Sun Life's Mutual Funds while some investment will require you to invest 10,000 pesos initially like BPI's Odyssey Fund.
You also have to put how much you are going to add every month for the rest of the year. For some it can be at least 1,000 pesos as most of investments require you a minimum of this amount to add on your investments while some can go up high as 20,000 or even 50,000 a month depending on their income and how much they are willing to invest. Remember that if you are a long term investor, you need only to allot "extra" cash not you're Emergency Fund so you won't be bothered by the ups and downs of your investment value especially if you are investing in equities or stocks.
Next is to determine how long you are going to invest in it. This can go from 3 to 5 years or even 20 years depending on what you're goal is. It can be used to buy your dream house, your dream car, your child's education expense or even as capital for your own big business. Personally, I have a 3-year goal of 1 Million Pesos, approximately this means that I have to have an initial investment of PhP 10,000, needs to add at least PhP 22,000 every month and at least 12% growth every year.
The variable part here is the INTEREST RATE value you will put since there's no guarantee in most types of investments. It was also shown the following rates as of today.
Bank Savings Account = 1% a year
Bank Time Deposit = 3% a year
Retail Treasury Bond = 5% a year
Stock Market and Equity Funds = 12% or more a year*
So, why don't you try to set your goals, compute how much that goal is, when do you like to achieve that goal and use this calculator to know how much you should be setting aside every month.
